How can I help you?

Perhaps you have a logo that you are generally happy with but needs a freshen up, or maybe needs to be adapted to be used in a different application. Quite often the client is happy with their logo and brand, they just need it to work across new media such as a website, or a vehicle or on clothing. I completely respect the customer and their preferences and will only do as asked, if they are happy overall I will not attempt to re-invent the wheel.

Maybe you’ve already set something up in Word, Canva or Powerpoint and it just doesn’t look right, but you don’t know why or how to fix it. Send it over to me and I’ll sort it out – saving you time and stress!

Maybe you are after something much more substantial? Maybe your product or business needs a complete rebrand? With a brief outline from you of your requirements I immerse myself in a world of ideas, playing with themes, fonts and styles, trying things out and feeling my way round, until something comes through that seems right. Always with the customer in mind and their likes and dislikes and often very specific needs, I work with you to reach the final design. Once you are happy I explore how any branding style will work across any relevant assets – be it a menu for a restaurant, a logo on a uniform, a website or office stationery. How your brand comes across is imperative and must always allow for flexibility and adaptation depending on the context.

It might just be that you’ve been trying to do the work yourself but it just isn’t looking right. I have experience and insight and will bring a professional look to documents and presentations. I will also do the job more quickly (as this is my ‘day job’), which in turn will allow you the time to do what you do best, without the frustration and stress of trying to do it yourself.

With years of experience in the design industry, there aren’t many problems I haven’t found a solution for. I also have access to all the professional software required to achieve top-notch results, and a happy customer. Do you have a 30 page word document that needs laying out professionally? Or perhaps you need a really fancy banner for your next public event? Need to reach out to new customers with some eye catching adverts and posters? Look no further, I’ve got it covered!

Visit my contact page and fill in the form, or send me an email, with a brief outline of what you need. I will make contact and ask any questions I need answering. If a meeting is needed that can be arranged either in person or remotely, or sometimes a quick email is all that is needed. It depends entirely on what you need and what you want to achieve. I always want to know as much as I can about my customers and their business, product or event. Finding out about you and establishing a rapport really helps with finding out what makes you tick, and what you do and don’t like. Ultimately the customer, you, drives the outcome of any design process.

My Specialty

I studied Graphic Information Design and Falmouth College of Arts (now Falmouth University) back in the nineties and since then have always been fascinated with the subject.

What is Graphic Information Design?

Well it’s graphic design, with a specific focus on communicating information to the end user.  So, in a nutshell, we not only make something look nice, it communicates effectively at a deeper level.  Information design is everywhere and often not noticed – such as the choice of font for a particular audience (childlike font for a nursery advert, a distorted spooky font for a horror book cover).

The use of colour coding and typography for the organisation of information is important, for such projects as financial reports or product catalogues.

Graphic information design can pretty much be applied to any aspect of graphic design, but with a particular focus on the end user and the functionality of that information.

A good example of my own Graphic Information Design would be the Hidden Truth brochure I have recently completed for WB Directors, which can be found here in my portfolio.

What is the working process?

Normally I receive an enquiry, sometimes a fully involved brief with a sketch or idea, and sometimes the client has no idea what they want.  It’s my job to interpret their requirements, and give them an idea of how long I think something might take.  Then I develop a design, depending on the brief.  Sometimes I come up with several ideas to discuss with the client, sometimes I come up with just one that I feel answers the brief perfectly.  As always this is sent to the client for discussion and input, and then further amends are made if necessary, until the client is happy with the end product.

How much do I charge?

This is very difficult because the process is on the whole very creative, sometimes an idea comes straight away and sometimes it takes time to come up with something.  I do have an hourly rate, but some clients may have a set budget, which more often than not I can work to, as long as it is reasonable!
